If you are a regular reader you know that I started the year off with Leonie Dawson’s 2013 Create Your Incredible Year Calendar and Workbook. It is actually my 4th year with the workbook but for reasons I can’t seem to explain, it was different.
I was different.
Something within me this year was yelling, “Hey I am ready already! Let’s just do this!”
As with all amazing changes you really cannot pinpoint what made this time different.
Personally I believe that when you become clear with your goals, truly clear about YOUR dreams and put your actions and thoughts in alignment with those goals; POOF things become easier.
It’s not always easy, we have lots of background noise, front-ground noise, opinions, negative little gremlins in our heads telling us, “we can’t,” “we shouldn’t,” “no one ever.”
However if we take the time to identify our dream.
Then take a bit of time to connect with our dream.
We can identify the steps to our dream.
And voila! Our dream starts to manifest.
Those of you who also worked through Leonie’s workbook know that it has a 100 Things To Do in 2013 list.
This is the first year I have filled it out, carried with me and read over and over.
It’s creased, it’s crossed off, scribbled on.
I love it!I have only filled out 97 “things to do” but I have crossed off 24 items and it feels amazing!
Now you may wonder what, “make homemade jam” (#47) has to do with realizing your dreams and I have to admit it seems like a far leap.
At first.
What the list is actually doing is putting me in contact with the spark, the light, the energy that is ME.
Without the noise, without the judgement, without the fluff.
I can sit down and write on this list, “wear earrings more often” (#83) and it points me to something about myself.
Just a small little something, that looks up coyly and smiles and just asks to be heard.
And when you take the time to listen, to act, to be who YOU are MEANT to be-magic happens.
I have always loved to garden and go for walks but reading over my list it has made clear how much I love nature.
How nature feeds me, speaks to me and is gently calling me into the next phase of my life.
It’s subtle, but it’s there.
So needless to say I am a total list convert-I loves it loves it loves it and will be doing this every year.
Another item on my list was “photo shoot in the woods” (#4). My friend Dani Allen of Dani Allen Photography reached out to me about taking some pics to promote her awesome photography business (seriously check out her work she rocks!) and she seemed the perfect person to help me capture my vision.
It took forever for us to come together but things really do happen when they are meant to.
Even if it’s raining.
As it did the previous 3 times we scheduled our shoot.
Until we finally said, “screw it we are doing it anyway,” and we get a little rained on and then, the sky clears, and nature accepted us in.
It was fun!
Below are some of the photos-I hope you enjoy them.
I hope they inspire you to make your own list.
I hope they help you find your dream.
Thanks for sharing this. This is my second year with the workbook and although I love it I can never seem to engage with it to the same extent as other people do. I’m grateful you shared because it encourages me to keep going. I appreciate your perspective on the list-making. I have never liked to write down goals because they just ended up becoming a list of things I could never achieve. I want to change this and I love the way some of your goals are so small and achievable. They don’t all have to be huge, life-changing things.
Vanessa I absolutely understand! I always thought my list had to have all these amazing, daring, life-altering things and then I too would end up with a list of things I coudln’t/didnt’ do. I decided to start with things I wanted to do, little things, like trips we wanted to take. My #1 is “Visit the Crayola Factory” 🙂 I am really starting to take hold to what so many people already know; it’s the tiny steps that get us where we want to go. Maybe today you just put one thing on the list and see what happens-even if it’s just to buy a really awesome nail polish color 🙂 Have a beautiful weekend and thank you so much for visiting!
I think I ran out of inspiration at about number 60 but your thoughtful post has reminded me that my goals can be small things rather than ‘Big Things’. So I’m going to revisit my 100 Things to Do in 2013 and add a few more wishes to it. I’m not only a serial list maker but also a perfectionist and that rather gets in the way of doing things because I so want them to be Right. Thanks for giving me some much needed inspiration 🙂
Hi Pearl,
Ah, yes, the perfectionist-I know that voice well!!! It can so get in the way of just doing what we want to do. So happy the post inspired you some and what a great thing-add some “wishes” to your list-love it!
Loved this blog and like Pearl and Vanessa I have bee inspired to revisit by 100 things to do this year. I have made it to about 55 but now realising that I can add really small things I am hoping to reach the 100 mark soon. Love the way you added ‘wear earrings more often’ to your list – fantastic. Yes anything that helps us to connect to who we really are can go on the list – no matter how small or silly it seems. So here’s to making those ‘tiny steps’ towards making our dreams come true.
Hi Jannietta! Thank you so much for your comment and I am glad this post was helpful! Yes the little items on the list really are helpful because it makes it you feel as if you have accomplished something, anything, even the small things. Happy list making!
