I don’t know about you but I have rekindled my love of blogs.
Back in the early 2000’s I started my first blog. I would write sarcastic type comedy on daily observances and had a mild following. I found it to be such a creative outlet and I am still bummed that somehow I lost the posts from way back when.
Over the years of course blogging changed. It seems now that people don’t follow blogs in the same way or they aren’t written with the same intention. I know I found myself making that shift as well. Instead of writing my blog to share it became more about writing it for a purpose-generally to gain a following you could later sell stuff to.
I don’t argue it’s effectiveness and to be honest I do hope that my blog will ultimately lead people to my work but I would prefer for that to be an afterthought. I would rather the purpose of my blog, of this site here, be about me sharing with you and you sharing back with me. I want the engagement of long ago where we would read a blog and comment and there would be this little community that formed of readers and writers. We would find new blogs by seeing the comments of others and it was just, nice.
I long for those small, happy little communities. I am craving the connection that comes from people sharing a common love, passion or even just a laugh. I want to read someone’s work over a warm cup of coffee while cuddled into my favorite chair and smile. I want to see someone’s work, their latest project or pictures from a hike they took over the weekend.
I want us to be real with each other.
Here’s to chatty blogs and the writers who share them.
Until next time…
