Ah Tuesday, usually the day I say, “Well, that ain’t happening this week.”
For some reason Monday is full of hope and Tuesday is generally the day I fall back into old habits and routines and feel “bleck” about myself.
Fortunately that is not the case today.
I have been accomplishing a lot on my creative work lately, and despite my little inner critics speaking up and voicing their objections to sharing, success and basically anything that involves risk, I am feeling as if I am finally on the right path. Part of this progress is do to the work I have been doing with Andrea Schroeder over at the Creative Dream Circle. (note: she is awesome, and you should check her out! Seriously if you want to get unstuck, get your shit together and get on with things already? I recommend her work. Best part? It’s none of that “ra-ra believe in yourself” fake positive motivational stuff. It’s real people doing real things!)
My current creative project, as you all know, is my Dilettante’s Diary (aka a calendar) for 2013. I was all excited to work on it yesterday then realized something.
I don’t have a ruler.
I know right? Don’t we just all have rulers? It’s like ice cube trays I thought when you became an adult the supply fairy just dropped it off one night while you were sleeping.
So, not having a ruler could be telling me that I am supposed to be creative and flowy and my calendar does not have to be so rigid and structured.
Could be.
However, the pragmatist in me knows that it will then appear as if my 2 year-old did it-minus the great use of color.
So I think I will get a ruler today.
What I did accomplish though was to get some photos done of some commission pieces I had made.
Long-time readers may remember the series of interviews I did on my site, one of them being with Dani at Urbani Jewelry (you can read my interview with her here). Dani and I have known each other since we were 16 (so, you know, a few years 😉 and I talked with her about creating unique jewelry for my readers. Something they could wear as a reminder of the work we are doing here. (The fun creative kind of work not the “you forgot your new TPS report” kinda work)
More importantly, I decided to call these “permission necklaces,” as in, “you have permission to call yourself a writer, artist, creative.”
Because you are.
So I managed to get some photos taken of the pieces that I will be giving away to some of my readers.
I need to work out the details of the contest yet but to give you a sneak peak here are some pics!
Also, feel free to comment below with suggestions for how you think the contest should run.
If you do-that will definitely count as an extra entry-just saying 😉
