When I was little my mom would take my brother and I out to gather up fall leaves. This was always such a special time of year for me-partly because it was my birthday but also because I am utterly in love with the leaves and their brilliant colors. As a child we would make craft projects with our leaves-items that would be hung on the refrigerator by me, completely unaware of the memories I was forging.
With this being my daugther’s first autumn I wanted to find a way to really share this time of year with her. My mother still picks up a pretty leaf she finds and hands it to me when she comes to my house-I want to have something like that with my daughter.
I love traditions-anyone who knows me laughs at that because I am really in love with the idea of things beings passed down from one generation to another-it unites the generations. So today while I was out walking an idea came to me-I am going to start a leaf collection for her! (Ok the idea was partly mine and partly from a Franklin cartoon but still ;). I have a beautiful notebook that I have been searching for the right use for and this is without a doubt IT!
So I did some research on how to preserve leaves and as soon as I finish this post little one and I will be out picking our leaves. One from her, one from me and one from her Grams! I am going to use the wax paper process-looks easy and I have all the ingredients 😉
Do you have some favorite fall traditions? I would LOVE to hear them!
