As I mentioned in my Vlog yesterday I am taking part in working through “The Artist’s Way” by Julia Cameron. This morning I leaned over several times and hit the snooze button on my alarm before deciding it was time to get up.
Once I did I was surprised that it was earlier than I thought it would be (not early just earlier than it had felt). I sat up and pulled out my notebook to start my morning pages. The sunlight was sneaking through the blinds and the room was full of light. As I wrote I was reminded of a previous blog entry where I talked about how I have always wanted to get up earlier but am not naturally a morning person, and then flittering back to mind was an idea I had several months ago.
So why not, after turning the light off at night, open the blinds and let the natural sunlight wake me?
I like it.
Today I was able to get some painting done in my bedroom-a nice warm cream color that should reflect sunshine nicely. We are also installing a new floor since my doggies did a number on the old one (beyond refinishing!) and Friday will be welcoming our new king bed *insert heavenly music here* So it seems fitting, now that the room will have a new energy to it, to start treating my mornings differently as well.
It’s all about gentleness and accepting ourselves for where we are now. And I think that if I am going to wake up late I might as well feel good about it!
Here’s hoping your day is filled with sunshine!
