Yesterday, I was doing my weekly planning session using my Dilettante’s Diary and realized that I was putting an awful lot into one day that was set aside for creativity, relaxation and fun.
I wonder if it’s the axiom of living in modern society that we have to plan relaxation.
Then we do it wrong.
It still seems odd to me to plan in things like yoga and meditation in my calendar.
I mean, isn’t that , I don’t know….just wrong?
Oh well back to my day.
It started innocently enough. 2 Fridays ago I was planning a fantastic day in a different town, a different coffee shop where I was hoping to walk around and do a little window shopping. I decided to lump that in with my artist date and *poof* had this jam-packed afternoon planned.
Then I got sick with the flu and spent 2 days in a NyQuil-induced coma.(FYI when your sub-conscious runs out of normal things to work on-WOW does it get creative!
Or maybe that’s just me)
So I decided to reschedule the day for this past Friday.
My bag was packed and I was ready to go.
Only the weather was crappy and by the time I finished running errands curling up on the couch seemed like a better plan.
So, I decided to give it a go for this coming Friday.
Only while I was planning yesterday I realized just how much I was trying to cram into one day.
It made me wonder if the largeness of the day is partly why it hasn’t happened yet.
I couldn’t just throw my bag in the car and plop myself at a coffee shop for an hour and do some doodles.I had to have an “ARTIST DATE!”
*insert large dramatic music*
So, I decided to spread things out a bit.
Maybe do some window shopping one day.
Meet a friend for coffee another day.
And perhaps, plop down for an hour and have some creative time.
Maybe not planned, maybe it just happens.
Maybe it is just for fun.
Well that’s all for now, my calendar notification is telling me it’s time to have some spontaneous fun.
Until tomorrow……
